CHARLES M. SALTER ASSOCIATES, INC. (CSA) is a consulting firm located in San Francisco with a branch office in San Jose, California. We provide services in acoustics, audiovisual systems, telecommunications, and security. The firm was founded in 1975 and currently has a staff of over 40 that consults on approximately 900 projects annually. Our consultants have backgrounds in engineering, architecture, music, speech, and theater. With 10 Professional Engineers (PE), 5 Certified Technology Specialists (CTS), a Certified Document Technologist (CDT), 4 LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP), a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), former contractors and integrators, and a Ph.D., our interdisciplinary team allows us to provide clients with tailored services for a wide variety of project types.

CSA recently completed an office expansion in the historic Hallidie Building. The new space is a flexible showplace and teaching environment demonstrating new acoustical, audiovisual, and telecommunications technologies within a sustainable office design. We also have videoconferencing to enhance communications with our clients.

In order to better inform clients, CSA has an in-house presentation studio to simulate acoustical environments. CSA also has a subsidiary company, the Audio Forensic Center.

In 1998, CSA authored ACOUSTICS: Architecture, Engineering, the Environment, a book for architects, engineers, facility owners and managers, specifiers, contractors, and other professionals with a need for information on acoustics.
