Davis H. Keith, CTS-D | Senior Consultant

Davis’ set of skills as an audio designer come from his unique blend of education and work experience. As a college student, Davis studied music technology and audio engineering, but found many of the courses did not delve as deep into some of the technical issues as he would have liked. Hungry to fill in the technical gaps in his studies, Davis mapped his own path by designing a curriculum to combine the technical aspects of audio recording, synthesis, and eventually video with his creative drive as a musician and artist. In addition to repairing and servicing equipment as a media services intern, Davis also spent his spare time building audio equipment, producing live sound for concerts and events, and playing trumpet, trombone, and stand-up bass in various bands and ensembles.

During college, Davis worked briefly in the school dorms in a custodial position before advancing to the maintenance supervisor responsible for training and supervising a twenty-person team in four short years. His quick understanding of mechanical and technical systems, combined with his love for teaching others, made him a perfect trainer for a staff responsible for all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues at a mid-sized college dorm facility. These skills have proven invaluable in his current position at Charles M. Salter Associates, where he is regularly required to explain complex audiovisual concepts to clients who may not have the background to understand the technology. Davis feels equally comfortable designing corporate boardrooms and complex conferencing centers as he does designing theaters and distributed audio/paging systems.
